Since many years now, dentures have been integral part of teeth replacement. These are the traditional methods of dealing with absence of more than one tooth, sometimes replacing entire teeth in the above or below jaw. Dentures can be partial or full and the newer forms are called also as overdentures. Partial dentures are used for replacing few teeth, where artificial teeth are present over prosthesis with gum like elements, to fit over the gum and slightly overlap adjacent teeth. In complete dentures, the entire row of teeth is replaced with artificial teeth and gum like substances. These materials are replaceable and can be cleaned in solutions. Such dentures are sometimes disadvantageous because they can slip out during sleep or when the person is unaware. Due to various problems arising out of their temporary nature, permanent forms are nowadays available in our cosmetic dentistry clinic in Delhi. These are fixed to the jaw bones by means of implants. Two or more implants are provided in the jaw, over which the dentures are fixed, so that they remain tightly over the gumline. Although dentures have been prevalent since long time, they are nowadays being replaced by implants by advanced methods of cosmetic surgery in India. But, on the other hand, these are cheaper alternative and hence sought by many people.
